Position 8 - Mr. Timothy Raffield
Prior to his nomination for the SFCU Board of Directors, Mr. Raffield has served as owner and managing partner of Alpha Clinical Solutions, a cancer therapy equipment service company based in Spring, Texas, since 2019. Mr. Raffield is also the owner and president of RadOncParts and Smarter Home Air, a medical parts company and HVAC company, respectively. Mr. Raffield has also held board positions for Comprehensive Oncology Solutions, Mayfield Medical Services, Mayfield Oncology Solutions and Smart Financial Credit Union. With over 25 years of medical sales and service experience, Mr. Raffield has worked with industry leaders such as Mallinckrodt, GE Healthcare, Varian Medical Systems, Ruud, Trane and Carrier.
He volunteers regularly with various charities and has previously served in coaching and leadership positions for the Boy Scouts of America. Mr. Raffield lives a faith-based life and is active in his church, Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Community, and has previously served on the ACTS core committee board and as a co-director for the men’s ministry retreat.
Mr. Raffield holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Lamar University and is a licensed medical device distributor and HVAC contractor.
Position 10 - Ms. Douthulia Gardner
Prior to beginning her service on the SFCU Board of Directors in 2008, Ms. Gardner served on the Nominating Committee for two years. In addition to completing over 52 modules of the Volunteer Achievement Program, she has also served as chairman, vice-chairman, secretary, and treasurer of the Board of Directors. Additionally, she has attended 12 or more credit union conferences and served on numerous credit union committees.
As a retired educator, she volunteers her time serving local, district and state retired teachers’ organizations. She has served as President of TRTA DISTRICT IV, which includes Harris, Fort Bend, Galveston, and Brazoria counties. Ms. Gardner is actively involved in her church, First United Methodist Church Georgetown, where she serves as an usher, greeter, collection steward and office volunteer. She also holds a Master of Education degree from Texas Southern University.
Position 11 - Mr. Jeffrey W. Hamlin
Mr. Hamlin has served as Director on the Board of Smart Financial Credit Union since 2008. He served as Chairman of the Board for three years. Before serving as Chairman, Mr. Hamlin also served on the Executive Committee as Vice President, Board Secretary, Treasurer, and Immediate Past Chair of the Board. Before joining Smart Financial, he served on the Board of Key Federal Credit Union before it merged with SFCU. Mr. Hamlin has also served on several Committees and offices including Chairman of the HR Committee, Chairman of the Smart Financial Foundation, and Chairman of Smart Financial Resources (First Advantage Financial Services, L.L.C.) the Smart Financial CUSO, among others.
Mr. Hamlin retired after 32 years in 2012 from CHRISTUS Health, a 30,000-employee faith-based organization. At CHRISTUS he held a variety of positions, ending his career there as Corporate Senior Director of Human Resource Services. Mr. Hamlin’s other volunteer activities include service on the Benefits Committee of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston and member of the Human Resources Committee of San Jose Clinic. He has also served as a volunteer Board member of the Palms Office Condominium Louetta Association, Inc., serving as its Secretary.
Mr. Hamlin holds an associate degree and bachelor’s degrees from the University of Maine and several post graduate certifications in human resources and labor relations from various professional organizations.
